REIKI

What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is an ancient form of energy-based therapy with origins in Japan and Tibet. From the Japanese, “Rei” means Universal and “Ki” means Life Force. Reiki is universal life energy. It is best described as the “laying on of hands” to transfer energy from one source to another. The Reiki practitioner is described as a conduit between the Universal Life Force (or Universal Energy) and the client receiving the treatment.

We all have Reiki energy flowing through us. In fact every living being has Reiki energy. It is when this life force is not able to flow freely that we are susceptible to illness and/or disease. Other living things such as animals and plants also respond well to Reiki, and in fact receive it more easily and quickly as they do not try to analyze or understand how it works while they are receiving the treatment. Like children, they simply accept it without judgement.

People seek Reiki sessions for physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual issues. It can be combined with hypnotherapy and other modalities or received alone.

Benefits of Reiki

img-ew-3When experiencing a Reiki treatment from a Reiki Master or trained practitioner, the client is provided with an overall holistic approach to their healing process. This makes Reiki an excellent compliment to all other healing modalities. The foremost benefit of Reiki is relaxation and the alleviation of stress. It is very effective in releasing emotional stress.

Reiki also helps with circulation problems and is especially beneficial to people experiencing joint problems.

Depending on the recipient’s needs, after a treatment they will either feel energized or be in a state of relaxation and calmness. Reiki has been shown to help in many areas including, but not limited to:

  • Stress reduction
  • Pain management
  • Relaxation
  • Increase creativity
  • Balance emotions
  • Sleep aid
  • Body Awareness
  • Increase vitality

Many clients feel deeply relaxed within minutes, and are amazed by the results that follow over the next few days. It’s important to remember that, whatever brought you in for treatment, ‘it didn’t get that way overnight’ and it won’t ‘recover overnight’, either. Reiki is not a magical cure, healing takes a commitment and it takes time. So we encourage you to come experience Reiki healing… one moment at a time.

When you arrive for your appointment you will be asked to fill out a few forms (first time clients).

You can then lie down or remain seated (fully clothed) on a massage table. Pillows can be added for your comfort. Then you just close your eyes and enjoy! The recipient can start by lying either on their back or stomach. The Therapist applies Reiki using a series of hand sweeps or laying of hands on or above the recipient’s body in various positions. The practitioner may also focus on a specified area depending on the clients’ needs. The practitioner may at some point during the session guide the client to turn over or change positions.

Reiki can accelerate and enhance the client’s innate healing ability, so pain, stress and injury are replaced with health and vitality. Since Reiki is simple and produces measurable results it is a great compliment to any treatment and has no negative effects.

Reiki can also be sent to the subject of its intention even if they are not present, no matter how far away the subject is.

As a treatment approach, Reiki in a non-invasive, intuitive modality which is a wonderful complement to traditional treatments and can help with imbalance that lies within and beyond the physical body.

During a treatment, one can experience many things, through the balancing and dissolution of blockages. Many people feel cold, tingling, heat or pulsating sensations during a treatment. In various situations, acute and even chronic pain can diminish or completely resolve. It is different for every person. Most people fall into a calm, relaxed state of rejuvenation.

What does Reiki feel like?

While the experience of Reiki is unique to each individual, some possible experiences include:

  • Sensation of warmth or coldness from the Practitioner’s hands
  • Feelings of deep relaxation and well-being
  • Sensation of floating, sinking or tingling
  • Feelings of love and joy
  • Seeing images or colors
  • Restful, sound sleep
  • Nothing but relaxation

Most people experience Reiki as peaceful and calming, yet energizing at the same time.

It doesn’t matter how you experience Reiki; just approach it with an open mind and allow the Universal Energy to do its work!

Reiki Training

Practicing Reiki is one of the best ways to heal yourself as well as others. After experiencing the deep relaxation and peace of Reiki during a healing session, many people wish to have access to this energy all the time. Some people do Reiki training just for healing themselves and their family. Others wish to learn Reiki to share with the community or start their own Reiki practice.

There are 3 levels of Reiki training. In each level the student receives attunements, information and hands-on learning and practice.

An attunement is an opening and awakening of one’s ability to transmit Reiki energy. Attunements are passed on from a Reiki Master/Teacher to their student. Everyone has healing ability. Reiki attunements greatly open one’s energy channels.

While the attunements are the “main event” for each level of Reiki training, it is important for the student to learn about Reiki and get practical experience. It is best for the student to apply the Reiki energy as much as possible and to take enough time between each level of Reiki training.

REIKI LEVEL 1

You will learn the history of Reiki, receive your first Reiki attunements, and practice hand positions for self-healing and healing for others.

REIKI LEVEL 2

Begins with a review Reiki 1 – sharing experiences and asking questions. You will receive more attunements, learn 3 Reiki symbols and practice distance healing.

REIKI LEVEL 3 – REIKI MASTER

Reiki Level 3 is also known as Reiki Master Training. A Reiki Master is able to give attunements and teach all levels including Reiki Master.

You will receive another attunement; learn more symbols; practice giving attunements; learn how to teach Reiki; and how to set up a Reiki practice.

Group Rate Discount – If you gather at least 3 students, group Reiki training is charged per student at a discounted rate.
