What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is based on the premise that there are zones and reflexes in the whole body which correspond to and are relative to all of the glands and organs of the entire body. The most effective reflexes are found in the foot, however there are reflexes in the hands and ears as well.

Manipulating specific reflexes removes stress, placing the body in a parasympathetic healing state, enabling disharmonies to be released by a physiological change in the body. With stress removed and circulation improved, the body is allowed to return to a state of balance.

Reflexology is a complementary therapy for treatment of a complex illness, to ease a variety of ailments or for those who already enjoy good health. It is a safe and gentle treatment for any person of any age in any condition, including children, people confined to wheelchairs and pregnant women.

Reflexology provides relaxation with the removal of stress; improves the circulation; complements all other healing modalities; and assists the body to normalize metabolism naturally. Through stimulation of the circulatory and lymphatic systems, and by encouraging the release of toxins, reflexology helps promote the body to heal itself. The process encourages the 7 Chakras of the body to release their energies and allows them to flow freely.

How Does it Work?

Reflexology is based on the premise that a vital energy, or life force, circulates between the organs of the body, permeating every living cell and tissue. If this energy becomes blocked, the part of the body relating to the blockage is affected. Energy blocks in the human body are reflected on the hands and feet in one or more of the zones located there. By using specific pressure techniques, they can be detected through the experience of “tender reflexes” or through the presence of “gritty areas”, often referred to as crystal deposits. These occur in the part of the foot or hand that relates to the part of the body that is imbalanced. The pressure and massage techniques in reflexology are designed to dissipate energy blocks, and break down crystalline structure.
